This one was a really satisfying build. The homeowner already had a beautiful backyard - an existing dry creek bed, a stone fire pit area, mature hydrangeas framing the space - and they wanted a water feature that felt like it belonged there, not something that looked like it got dropped in. That's exactly what we set out to do.

We installed a variable-speed pump as the backbone of the system. The waterfall itself is built from limestone, stacked and shaped to create a natural tiered flow. A large feature rock sits at the top and doubles as a bubbling fountain rock - water wells up over it and spills down through the layers. It reads as completely natural in that setting. The basin is buried underground using water storage modules, so there's no open pond to worry about. No standing water, no liner edges poking out, just gravel and rock and the sound of moving water.

One thing we were intentional about was the integration point. The basin ties directly into the existing dry creek bed, so the water flows into a feature that was already part of the yard's design language. We adjusted the surrounding rock and grading to make sure everything transitioned cleanly. It took some careful work during excavation to protect what was already there, but the finished result is a yard that reads as one cohesive space rather than a collection of separate features.

The system also has low-voltage LED lighting built in, positioned to catch the waterfall movement after dark. And the Aquascape Automatic Dosing System keeps the water clear without the homeowner having to think about it much. The SLD pump connects to a wireless remote, so adjusting flow is simple.

A water feature like this becomes something you hear before you see it - and that's exactly the kind of detail that makes a backyard feel like somewhere you actually want to spend time. To wrap everything up, we replaced mulch and planted multiple trees to really spruce up the whole space.
